Overview

The loss tree is a central element of the PerfTrak configuration. It defines the typology of stoppage causes — organised in levels 1 and 2 — that appear on the tablet when performance losses have to be informed by the operator. Each loss tree is specific to a type of equipment and can be customised to your needs.

Structure of the loss tree

The PerfTrak loss tree follows the main principles of the AFNOR standard and is made up of five reference categories, which are non-editable, serve to calculate the performance indicators and do not appear directly on the tablet:

  • Loading: planned downtime such as preventive maintenance, breaks, plant shutdown.
  • Availability: unplanned downtime of any kind such as breakdowns, waiting, defects, change-overs, batch changes.
  • Performance: micro-stoppages and slowdowns.
  • Quality: losses related to product quality, in particular those that affect the performance of the equipment, for instance by causing a stoppage.
  • Custom: lets you add extra categories suited to your own standards.

Under each of these categories, you create the level 1 and then level 2 causes that will be offered to the operator on the tablet.

Creating a loss tree

  1. Go to PerfTrak > Loss Configuration > Loss Configurations, then click Add.
  2. Give your loss tree a name. We recommend using a name related to the type of equipment concerned, for example "Machining Tree 1".

Define the loss causes

In the Tree of loss types sub-tab, create the different level 1 and level 2 cause categories that will appear on the tablet. Every user is free to adapt the tree to their own monitoring standards.

Configure the automated causes

In the Configuration sub-tab of the tree, you must define the level 2 losses corresponding to the following three automated causes:

  • Speed Loss (SL): automatically identifies the periods when the machine runs below its nominal rate.
  • Overclock (OC): automatically identifies the periods when the machine runs above its nominal rate.
  • Plant Shutdown (PS): corresponds to a deliberate production stoppage, such as a plant closure.

These causes must first be created in the tree before they can be assigned. Once assigned, a dot — SL, OC or PS — appears to the right of the corresponding level 2 loss. These causes are automated and do not have to be informed manually by the operator.

Configure the tablet indicators

In the Performance indicators tablets sub-tab, define the indicators that will be visible on the tablet. For each indicator, enter a name and the loss categories to be taken into account in the calculation.

Define the perimeter

The Perimeter tab lets you define the factories, workshops and machines concerned by this loss tree. Managers with access to one of the pieces of equipment in the perimeter will be able to edit the tree.

Assigning a loss tree to a machine

Once your tree has been created, it must be associated with the machine or machines concerned:

  1. Go to PerfTrak > Loss Configuration > Machines & Loss Trees.
  2. Associate the machine with its loss tree.

Synchronisation with the tablet

Once the loss tree is configured on the website, the one assigned to the monitored equipment appears in the tablet settings, in the Loss categories section. After any modification of the tree on the website, remember to refresh the tree in the tablet settings, then exit and relaunch the PerfTrak application.

Use by the operator

When a loss is identified by the module and reported on the tablet, the operator selects the corresponding cause by clicking Inform to the right of the loss, then navigating through the loss tree to choose the appropriate reason — level 1, then level 2.

Several losses can be informed at once, by selecting them one by one or by using the Select All button, then clicking Inform at the bottom left of the screen.

To assign several causes to a single loss, use the Split feature to divide the loss into several segments, each of which can receive a distinct cause.
