Path: PerfTrak > Product Configuration > Perf Cycletime Products
In the Perf Cycletime Products tab, in addition to the grouping coefficient — which acts as a multiplier for the number of pulses — you can configure two specific coefficients used for your quality sessions, called coefficients for scrap management.
The configuration logic of the two scrap coefficients differs slightly from one to the other.
Calculation logic
First scrap coefficient
Target count value = Performance sensor pulse × [value of scrap coefficient 1]
This first coefficient works as a multiplier: it multiplies each pulse collected by the performance sensor.
Example. If each pulse corresponds to 2 metres of material, enter 2 in the Coefficient box and Meters in the Unit field of your first coefficient.
The target count value is the number of units — metres, kilos, litres… — that you want to count per pulse.
Second scrap coefficient
Target count value = Performance sensor pulse × [value of scrap coefficient 1 / value of scrap coefficient 2]
The second coefficient works as a divisor of the first. The first coefficient must therefore be taken into account when setting the second, since the second demultiplies it.
Example. If each pulse corresponds to 2 metres of material and you want the ratio of one pulse = 10 kilos, you enter 0.2 for the second coefficient — dividing the value of the first by the target value of the second.
Working out the second coefficient
Second scrap coefficient = Value of the first scrap coefficient / Target counting unit of the second scrap coefficient
Detail of the example above. Desired counting model:
- 1 pulse = 2 metres for the 1st coefficient;
- 1 pulse = 10 kilos for the 2nd coefficient;
x= the value to calculate for the second coefficient.
Applying the formula:
2 / x = 10— first coefficient ÷ x = target count value of the second coefficient2 / 10 = x = 0.2— first coefficient ÷ target count value = x
The value 0.2 is therefore the scrap coefficient to enter in the Second coefficient field, since 2 / 0.2 = 10, for 10 kg per pulse.
To summarise the configured model:
- 1 pulse = 2 metres → enter
2for the first coefficient; - 1 pulse = 10 kilos → enter
0.2for the second coefficient.
Behaviour of the coefficients
Case study: a product configured with three coefficients — grouping, scrap 1 and scrap 2 — in PerfTrak > Product Configuration > Perf Cycletime Products.

- Grouping coefficient = performance sensor pulse × [target count value of the grouping coefficient]
- Scrap coefficient 1 = performance sensor pulse × [target count value of scrap coefficient 1]
- Scrap coefficient 2 = performance sensor pulse × [value of scrap coefficient 1] / [target count value of scrap coefficient 2]
The scrap coefficients have no impact on the grouping coefficient, and vice versa.
